PLATELET-RICH PLASMA & PLATELET-RICH FIBRIN TREATMENTS AVON, OH

WHY PRP/PRF?
At Willow Boutique Medspa, we refer to PRP/PRF as “Liquid Gold” because of its remarkable ability to stimulate cell growth within the body. During the treatment, a patient’s blood is drawn, processed, and used to deliver incredible benefits. PRP and PRF can stimulate hair growth, reduce the appearance of scars, boost collagen production, and much more.

PRP
PRP, or Platelet-Rich Plasma, is derived from your own blood. It is a concentration of platelets, which are crucial for blood clotting and healing. Platelets, along with the liquid plasma portion of your blood, contain numerous factors essential for cell recruitment, multiplication, and specialization.

PRF
Platelet-Rich Fibrin (PRF) is one of the most natural methods to induce collagen production. PRF can be used either through injections or in conjunction with microneedling. As a second-generation PRP, PRF contains platelets and leukocytes that accelerate the healing of both soft and hard tissue.

FAQ's

What is Platelet-Rich Plasma (PRP)?

Platelet-rich plasma (PRP), often referred to as “Liquid Gold,” is a treatment that stimulates cell growth within the body. The process involves drawing the patient’s blood, processing it, and then using it for treatment. PRP can stimulate hair growth, reduce scarring, boost collagen production, and much more.

How does PRP work?

Plasma, a component of blood, contains proteins that help with clotting and support cell growth. Platelets, also in the blood, recognize and repair damaged cells by forming clots. PRP treatments use these natural processes to rejuvenate the skin and promote new cell growth. During the procedure, blood is drawn, spun in a centrifuge to concentrate the platelets, and then applied or injected into the skin. PRP can help fade under-eye darkness, restore facial volume, and address hair loss.

What is Platelet-Rich Fibrin (PRF)?

Platelet-rich fibrin (PRF) is an advanced form of PRP that includes a complex fibrin matrix rich in platelets, leukocytes, and mesenchymal stem cells. This technique releases growth factors and interleukins for 10-12 days, enhancing tissue healing and regeneration. PRF is all-natural, with no additives, and releases a higher concentration of growth factors over an extended period. In cosmetic surgery, PRF accelerates wound healing and reduces scarring. In aesthetics, it treats hair loss, dark circles, acne scarring, wrinkles, fine lines, deep folds, brown spots, and volume loss.

What are the pre-care instructions and relative contraindications for PRF treatments?

PRF treatments depend heavily on patient hydration, so begin hydrating 72 hours before your session. Smokers may have a reduced response to this treatment. While PRF is effective in most cases, individual results can vary, and multiple sessions may be needed. On average, 3-4 sessions spaced 4-6 weeks apart are recommended, with visible results in 4-9 months.

What can I expect during a PRF treatment session?

You may take pain medication like Tylenol before the procedure. A numbing cream is applied to the treatment area. Approximately 13-52cc of blood is drawn from your arm and then centrifuged to separate the components. The platelets, leukocytes, and mesenchymal stem cells are collected and injected using a tiny needle.

When will I see the results, and how long do they last?

Noticeable results from PRP/PRF treatments typically appear within 4-9 months and are long-lasting, though individual results may vary. Most patients need 3-4 treatment sessions spaced 4-6 weeks apart, followed by 1-2 yearly maintenance treatments.

Will I need time to recover?

For injections, bruising and swelling are possible, so plan for any events or vacations. For microneedling with PRP/PRF, recovery usually lasts 1-2 days with some redness but no peeling.
